After a short hiatus from podcasting, our latest mother-daughter podcast brings everyone up to speed on our lives.
Actually, the pause wasn’t that short, it was a proverbial 9 months off, which seems very symbolic because we both did a lot of growing and seem way more ready for this venture than ever.
We were very much aware that to start a project of this magnitude and then drop off was not a great business move, but as embodied women, we also had to listen to the wisdom of our rhythms.
Sometimes you gotta make choices that are self-loving over choices that best suit the business, and that’s what we did.
That being said, its game on now, and we’ve recommitted to being a regular presence on the podcast, with updates here as well.
So, to jump into it, Sophia struggled with bad acne for about four years until finally deciding to go on accutane last May.
Her acne had affected her mood and her social life long enough and she was determined to re-integrate into her friend group.
Last summer when her acne was at its worst (the drug makes acne worse before it gets better), she went to our family camp and made really strong friendship connections, which was an amazing experience.
In contrast to what our society tells us, she learned that her appearance is not actually what leads to social acceptance, rather, it’s her essence (which is actually the final inner treasure in the Girl on Fire Program).
Sophia talked about self-care and how she really had to take care because the drug was so strong.
She drank tea all day long, exercised regularly, took supplements to keep her immunity strong, and slept as well as she could.
She bravely spoke about her experience with therapy and how it supported her journey through this very challenging period in her life.
The conversation then shifted to me, where I shared about my ten month Women of Light Wellness Program that I designed and led, just finishing this January.
I shared how I needed something positive and constructive to focus on as the public inquiry began at the beginning of 2022, and wow, did this ever consume my time.
It was a lot of work, but this amazing group of women grew in powerful ways through this alchemical journey that taught us to use our times of suffering as opportunities to deepen our connection to ourselves.
Having both had birthday’s since the last podcast, Sophia celebrating her dancing Queen at 17 and me taking the leap into my fifties, OMG!!!
We wanted to give listeners a birthday gift for this year, so that when you step into a new year yourself, you can celebrate and honour the day in a similar way.
May this handout help you to align with your deepest dreams and live the life you long to live.
