In my last blog, I shared my despair about the violence in the world, and then was reminded that love is always here—sometimes we just need to look for it.
Well this story tells us that we don’t need to look for love at all, because it’s looking for us…
Yesterday, a good friend of mine decided to pay off a parking ticket that she’d acquired when her baby brain had forgotten to fill the meter.
In gym clothes and runners, she lugged her heavy 10mth old into Scotia Square and dutifully paid her ticket. On her way out, a gentleman held the door for her and they exchanged smiles. Suddenly, out of the blue he declared, “If you can tell me what my briefcase is made of I’ll give you a $1000.00.”
My friend smiled quizzically and said, “Pardon me?”
“I just lost my mother and I want to share some of my inheritance. I’ve tried 7 times already and no one will take it”, he said.
The fashion diva incognito replied, “Well I don’t wish to take your money but I do know that case is made of Ostrich leather.”
The man’s face lit up with a smile “Wow, you didn’t even need to feel it!” And from his pocket he pulled 10 one hundred dollar bills and outstretched his arm.
She repeated herself a number of times, exclaiming that she couldn’t take his money. He persisted, somehow certain that his mother would’ve wanted her to have it.
When my friend realized he was serious, she put her baby down and began to cry. He tenderly wiped her tear away and said, “You’re a single mother aren’t you?”
She nodded and said “Yes I am, the father didn’t show up.”
“Well I don’t know why, you’re much too beautiful to be on your own. Take this money, please!”
“But, how can I repay you? What is your name?” she said.
“This is my gift to you, and you don’t need my name. Enjoy it!”
And then he walked away.
Let’s take the spirit of this anonymous man’s generosity into our own lives and let abundance flow.
And when love comes looking for you, will you accept it?
